John Schmidt

I had the opportunity to go to see John Schmidt in concert last night. A friend wasn't able to go at the last minute so I got her tickets :) It was really quite awesome. He is LDS and composes classical new age music as well as rearranges music of just about anything. Luckily it started at 8, so I was able to put Brighton to bed and go without a worry. Stacy & I headed over to the Rose Center Theater in Westminster and made it just in time, not thanks to me! I barely made it into the shower at 7pm! Talk about cutting it close, but we were seated before the lights went out. He was very entertaining and quite the goof ball. One of my favorite songs was "Pachelbel meets U2".

Afterwards we snagged a picture with John in the lobby. Stacy and I were both so nervous to ask for his picture, you would think he was Brad Pitt! It was so cute though, while we were waiting a little girl goes up to him for his autograph and says, "You've really inspired me to be a better piano player". And for all of you that have kids who play an instrument, he said that he hated to play for the first 2-3 years but his Mom didn't let him quit, and after the first few years he really started to love it and is so thankful that she didn't let him give up.
