Baby Bossy Turns 2!

My baby is 2! Oh my goodness how time flies. Just 2 years ago I was holding my tiny 6 pound 1 ounce bald baby bug. In her 2 month post I said, "I also want to document that from the first day I laid eyes on her I've always felt that she is going to be a very sweet girl. I think she'll be the peacemaker and maybe even be a tad quiet and/or shy. Just my thoughts :)"

I totally laughed when I read the quite/shy part. Not at all. But she is very sweet. Throughout the day she will say, "I love you too" and come give me hugs. She's always willing to say sorry and as quick as she is to get mad she's just as quick to give hugs and kisses to make up.

She really did look like a doll! 2 - 4 months.

She is a total princess, but still a bruiser at the same time. She loves to wear princess dresses and to sing and dance all around. But when people describe their always on the go boys, it sounds just like her. The girl is always on the move.

She's entered the crying for no reason phase. Just when she wakes up from her nap for the most part. I do have to note that it is not nearly as bad as Brighton. Maybe she's just getting started though.

5 - 9 months

She copies every little thing Brighton does. Sounds, facial expressions, everything. It is so cute to see her studying all of her actions. Except when it's naughty of course...

Every night in Brighton's prayers she says, "I love mommy and I love sister bossy..." Remember that Bos! Even if you fight as teenagers, Brighton loves you so much!

10 - 12 months

Some more things about Boston:

  • She can count to 10.
  • Sings her ABC's pretty well.
  • Thinks everything is pink, but is getting better at recognizing her colors.
  • Recognizes some shapes.
  • She talks well for her age. Not as articulate as Brighton was, but once you get a hang of her "language" she has quite a few 4-5 word sentences, and repeats everything we say. Some of my favorite words she is saying right now are: "So alicious!" "I lub it!" "Look! So beautiful!" and most recently, "Birthday party!".
  • She loves her bottle. Duh.
  • Wears 2 and 3T clothes, size 7 shoes.
  • She is just under 30 lbs, and pretty darn tall for age {however tall that is}
  • She can run and climb better than any other kid her age.
  • Her favorite word is "no".
  • Her favorite song is Beauty and the  Beast.
  • Her favorite tv show is The Little Einsteins.
  • Her favorite color is pink.
  • Her favorite foods are: beans, bananas, grapes, and cheese.
  • She loves to carry around her baby doll or a princess doll, finger painting, playing pretend cooking with Brighton, spinning, playing high five, books and puzzles, wrestling with daddy, and playing "I Spy"
    •  It is the cutest too she says, "I spy wit I ittle eye... somepeeeeeen, PINK! It's always pink.
13 months - 23 months

I am obsessed with her hair. {While walking to our car from Chick just a few days ago a lady says, "Oh wow, her hair is a good color for her! Like I chose it from a box. People crack me up.} I love to cuddle her like she's my baby and could just stare at her beautiful face all day. Happy birthday sweet bossy! We all love you so much!

If you read this and know Boston, will you please leave a comment? I would love for her to have some fun comments to read when she's older. Thank you!!

We're off running...

We have done so many fun things in the first 9 days of 2012, I seriously don't know how I'm going to get back into my routine with preschool and teaching piano. Tomorrow is the day. Eeeek!  During the fun I did manage to start working out, and significantly cut back on my sugar and diet coke intake. Go me. I have high hopes that I can keep it up and get back to the grind. *fingers crossed*

Here are a few things we've been up to since our "vaca":

We met our cousins down in Laguna Beach to check out the tide pools.  We could not have had better weather. Mid 70's with a slight breeze. Perfection.

Boston chasing the birds.

We have been playing a lot of dress up. This has been so much fun, because both girls really enjoy it.  Boston begs to put dresses on, "I-na dress", and loves to put all of the necklaces on.  Brighton likes to put on all of the bracelets, so it works out perfect.

Notice, they're still playing with their cars though. Love it.

Yes, mom, I did notice her snot nose in this picture. I promise I wipe it.

Cute video of B & B dancing together: Click here

We hung out with the Thompson's for a last minute pajama party.

We got crazy at Pump It Up.

The girls went down this slide at least 30 times. I love that Boston is the leader. Brighton totally won't do stuff until she see's Boston do it. My dare devil baby.

We got together with family to celebrate a few birthdays.

Aaron and Darrel were so nice to play Candyland with Brighton.  "Uncle Aaron won first, but I won next" is what she told me.

This picture just cracks me up. My caption for it is, "That's right. I'm being spoon fed ice cream."

Bos is such an animal lover. She just followed Luke around the whole night. This is her trying to cuddle with him.  She liked when he would lick her.

We also have been playing outside in our awesome weather.

And doing a little stunt riding.

Of course Boston started it. I don't know where she comes up with this stuff!

Now we are looking forward to a 3 day weekend in big bear. Super excited!

Brighton's Birthday Party

First, I need to thank Shawna for offering to let us have Brighton's party had her house. We wanted to have a bounce house, and Shawna's yard was perfect.  She was the most awesome host ever, and I seriously can't thank her enough!  Seriously.

Brighton's party was for family and a few friends. And we're so thankful that so many of you were able to come.  Even though Brighton yells no at everyone and runs away, she secretly loves all of it.

She talked for months about her princess birthday party that would have a bounce house AND balloons. So that is what we did. I would have loved to copy this party. But who has that kind of time or money! So I did my own version of their decor, and I am really happy with how it turned out.

The party favors included: A princess tiara, a princess wand, a princess coloring book and a pink balloon.

No party is complete without a cricut made sign, right? I forgot to get a picture of it at her party. But I'm going to leave it hung up in her room for a little while.

The cake I made... well that's another story. Here's how I described it.  Flesh colored skin with neon pink hearts. The "flesh" color was supposed to be pink... then that wasn't working, so I tried to make it more purple.  I stopped before it looked like poop. Nude is better than Brown, right?  Putting the crown on top made it a little better.  But oh geez, I definitely don't have the same genes as my cousin Jami.

We had a bounce house that was provided by All About Jumpers. I got a Living Social voucher for them. It was an 8 hour bounce house rental plus 3 long tables and 18 folding chairs. All for $49! Great deal huh? Thank you Nana and Grandpa for helping with that!

Brighton was in heaven, and bounced 90% of the time.

I had a table with bowls of beads and yarn for the girls to make bracelets. It was a total hit. Every girl left decked out with new jewelry.

For food we stuck with some kid favorites. Domino's Pizza, watermelon, grapes, Pringles, Capri Suns and soda.

When it was time to sing Happy Birthday, Brighton of course told us all to be quiet and plugged her ears.  The video cut off after a few seconds, but you can see her for a second plugging her ears.  The best part was at the end, Brighton sang "No, no, no, no, no, noooo!" With the last, "Happy birthday to you". So sassy.

For dessert we obviously had cake, but then I also had ice cream and root beer to make floats. I was told the cake tasted pretty good. So that is all that matters, right? If you were just saying that to be nice. Thank you.
Auntie Catherine and soon to be Auntie Kristy.
(Darrel & Kristy are getting married this week!)

Auntie Soni and Great Aunt Janice

Princess Boston. Isn't she so cute in purple?

Brighton was spoiled with so many fun, cute presents. Thank you to everyone! She seriously loves every single thing.

Happy Birthday Miss B! We sure love your sweet and sassy personality!

Brighton's Birthday Week: Actual Birth Day & Beach

On Brighton's actual birth day she woke up to "Christmas Morning". She came down the stairs and we had her presents set up in the front room.

Wendy Wall was super gracious and gave us the cutest make-up/music table last Christmas. Since B was already getting a play kitchen we decided to hold onto it until her birthday. It was perfect timing; she is super into dress up and princesses now.

We also re-gifted her Dora bike she received last year from Nana and Grandpa. It was too big for her, so we bought her a smaller one and stuck the Dora one in the garage.  I think she went around telling people, "When I'm 3, I'll be a little taller and I can ride my Dora bike" for like 3 months.

Daddy picked up a new pink ball to complete the gifts. (I totally forgot I had a bunch of art stuff I was going to give her! Oops. I guess I'll turn that into a "Congratulations, you're potty trained" gift).

She immediately started painting her nails. Such a girly girl.

And Boston showed off her stunt riding.

We made chocolate chip pancakes for breakfast and then went out for a little bike ride.

After that I went and picked up some special birthday balloons for her. Her whole gang was there, Elmo, Dora, Cars, Cinderella, Belle, Sleeping Beauty and Mickey Mouse. She was excited for the "special delivery".

For lunch we had her favorite. "Chick-A-Flay". And played in the play area for awhile.

She's really into silly faces if you can't tell.

To be honest, I'm not quite sure what we did for dinner... or for the rest of the evening for that matter! Obviously nothing that special.

She was/is so happy to be three, and goes around showing everyone how she can hold up 3 fingers.

Beach Day:

The next day daddy planned a special outing down to Woods Cove in Laguna Beach. Now that he's working in Orange County we have all sorts of new places to visit.

It was the most perfect weather. Seriously perfect. The girls were angels, and we had a really nice family outing.

Brighton lost her footing as a wave went out and fell. She was laying in about 2 inches of water with the most horrified look on her face. It was so sad. But she survived and didn't let it ruin her night.

However, she was literally covered in sand from head to toe. Yuck.

Proof that I really am a part of these things.

We finished off the week with some Yogurtland. I seriously spend a dollar total. The employees always look at me like, "Seriously? that's all you're going to get?" But my girls are so happy with their dollop, why get more?
