My Little Mozarts

In the Suzuki Method we start with 4 variations of twinkle twinkle little star.  Pepperoni Pizza, Ice Cream and Popcorn and Grasshopper (those are just made up names to go with the rhythms). Anyway... That is what I'm referring too when I ask Brighton to play those in the video. She can just play the rhythm on one note. But I'm very proud of her :) ... After I get done teaching, Brighton will get on the bench and say, "teach me!" Which only lasts for about 30 seconds. But hey, we've made a little progress in the last few months.

Piano Recital

Another piano recital has come and gone. This was my 6th one in 3 years. I get so nervous every recital. I'm sweaty and shaky and I'm not even the one playing! I just love all of my students, and they all did a fabulous job.  I have 12 students right now, and I seriously love teaching every one of them.

Some how this is the best picture we took. How can you not love all of these cute kiddos! (Don't worry I have 3 inch heels on, and the boy next to me is only 10) And they all look so nice in their "Sunday best" :)

Piano Kids

I really should be better at writing down the fun things my piano students say. They really are so funny. Well today we had group lessons. It's where a group of students come together at the same time. They practice playing for each other, we play fun games and have pizza and treats.

So starting with this group lesson I decided to add a little segment on composers. You know, teach them a little something about music history. Today I started with Mozart. At the end of my 4 - 6 year old group I asked, "So does anyone remember what composer we learned about today?" A lot of "ummmmms" were going on, then one of my 6 year olds shouts, "Motard!"

I teach them well.

Surprisingly eight 4 - 6 year olds are much easier than nine 8 - 10 year olds.
