It has definitely been a "seriously?" kind of night....
I don't want pity, I want laughter. I hope hearing about my night will bring you comic relief and make you feel better about any "seriously?" type moments you've had lately.
3:55pm: I'm driving to a baptism about a mile from my house. I'm a block away when I see a stick... okay maybe it was a small branch... in the middle of my lane. Needing to turn left soon, I decide not to change lanes but to "straddle" the stick/branch. Well... either I have even more horrible depth perception than I thought, or I'm just plain lucky, but I hit the damn branch and it lodged itself in my back axle (or somewhere near there) right up against my tire. The worst whining/rubbing sound ensued and I immediately pulled over to inspect. So here I am on the side of Bloomfield in my dress, on my hands and knees, trying to pull this darn branch out from under my car. Lovely. I didn't have any luck, so I turned my hazard lights on and crept over to the church building to attend the baptism. Afterward, I challenged all of the Elders in attendance to see who was strongest and could get the branch out. After much deliberation, and attempt, they eventually had to jack up my van to remove it. Phew. But seriously? Who runs over tree branches?
5:50pm: I've picked up the girls, and am filling up my gas tank on my way to watch Braden play some bball. I'm sickened by the site of $4.53 per gallon, and immediately occupy my thoughts with, "Where have I been driving?" The pump stops and I see my total as $82.85. Severe anxiety kicks in. Brighton seems to be teasing Boston, so I lean back in the driver door to settle the dispute. Once they seemed to be calmed, I get in the car, start it, and start driving away. Did you catch what I forgot to do? Oh yes, that's right. I DIDN'T PUT THE GAS HOSE AWAY!!! So yes, I drove away with the gas hose in my car, pulling it off of the pump. I slam on my breaks and my hands hit my face, "SERIOUSLY?" A guy pumping gas next to me, calmly walks over, takes the hose out, replaces my gas cap, and tells me, "Get out of here... they'll make you pay for it... I didn't see anything." In a panic, and clearly not thinking about honesty, I do as he says and start driving away. I'm not even out of the lot before I see the owner/manager/whoever, walking out and trying to get my attention. So of course I tell him I'm coming back (I was already out in the street), I make a u-turn and pull back in. I told him, "sorry, I just kind of panicked". He fortunately laughed. Then he tells me that I"m lucky, because it looks like the hose just popped off, and that no further damage was done. So my cost will only be about $130 - $150. WHAT! SERIOUSLY? I don't know why, but I kind of thought he would tell me they were covered for this type of stuff but that he just needed my info. So now, I am waiting for a phone call to tell me that my gas tank was not $82, but ended up being $232.
6:15pm: We arrive at the church to finally watch Braden. Brighton gets out of the car kind of weird, and I realize she's peed her pants. Seriously? I was not about to go home, so I just put her in a diaper and let her run all around. WT? Oh well.
Can I get a redo on today? Seriously.

Lately, Brighton has been letting me put curlers in her hair at night. I'm trying to make more of an effort to torture do her hair more. Someone in our ward saw her hair like this on Sunday and said, "Oh good for Mom for taking the time to do your hair!" I know he did NOT mean it as I took it, but it was kind of a wake up call. Even though she cries like I'm stabbing her every time I brush it, I guess she's just going to have to get over it. I have a super sensitive head as well so it's been hard for me to put her through what I know is painful. But since I know that it hurts, I'm extra gentle..I promise.
I've been wanting glasses for awhile.... just for at home. So instead of forking over hundreds of dollars, I decided to take advantage of being far sighted and just buy reading glasses. $14.99, oh ya.
I have to go check on my girls before I go to bed. I can't sleep if I don't. I always find myself taking pictures of them in "cute" positions, or whatever. I seriously could make a whole collage with all of the pictures I've taken. Anyway, I just thought this one was extra cute the other night. She had all of her princesses in formation before falling asleep.
I hate not having a back yard, but our long drive way is sure fun after it rains. They have so much fun running back and forth through the puddles.
Next up, a "Wicked" weekend with my mom!

Photo Recovery
Remember THIS post?
I was so so sad.
Well... almost a year later, I found them! Don't ask me how. Like I said, I thought I was smart. Guess not! They were on my camera memory. I could have sworn I looked there.
So let's try that post again.
Getting ready to go to kindergarten... I mean Disneyland! Because she looks so old with her hair pulled back.

Brighton soaking wet outside in the rain because we got POURED on when we went to Disneyland on Tuesday.

Ava Larsen, Audrey Thompson and Brighton were having so much fun chasing each other in the rain. (Look how little and chubby they are!)
No need to pretend anymore! Here is my self portrait after walking in the rain. "because I think I still look pretty good." ;)
Now pretend that I'm not really this dumb, and that I never posted that post about pretending what my lost pictures looked like.

10 Months and a Birthday
(Written on March 27th)
First I'll start with an update about my sweet baby bos. She is 10 months today and is crazy as ever.
At 10 months she:
I can't get over how cute and chubby she is. We went for a 2 week follow up for her eczema and she had gained 15 ounces! Current weight: 19 lbs 6 oz. She's my Precious Chubby :)
Now onto the birthday. Mine that is! I am now a whopping 28. (Which, lets be honest... I'm basically 30). I'm not one to be sad about getting older, it just sounds old. Anyway... It was a fabulous birthday. Not a single picture, but just wanted to document what happened.
My bday celebrations started on Friday with Braden getting up with the girlies and letting me sleep in. He woke me up about 8 (yes, that's sleeping in for me) to tell me that Justin and Stacy were over to watch the girls and he was taking me to breakfast. We hit up one of my favorite spots Blackboard Bistro in Seal Beach. So yummy.
Then on Saturday, Stacy surprised me with another favorite, Starbucks Hot Chocolate, and a birthday card that instructed me to be ready by 11:30. Stacy and Leslie picked me up and we met up with Amy at Cafe Rio (yet another favorite) for a bday lunch. Then they surprised me by taking me for a mani/pedi! That Stacy sure knows me well!
That night, my awesome MIL watched the girls and Braden took me out to dinner and a movie.
On my actual birthday, we had a family dinner at the in-laws as usual. It's always a good time chit chatting and eating some delicious meat loaf.
I am so loved and so spoiled, and could not be more thankful for the wonderful friends and family in my life. Thank you everyone for the birthday wishes today. It sure was awesome!
First I'll start with an update about my sweet baby bos. She is 10 months today and is crazy as ever.
At 10 months she:
- Stands on her own really well.
- Crawls super fast.
- She never sits flat on her bum. She is usually squatting, kneeling, one knee down/one foot up, or in a Z sit. Cracks me up.
- Eats like crazy. She is never full.
- Loves to chase and be chased.
- Loves to head butt... It's almost like she just gives kisses with her forehead.
- Has 3 teeth. 1 top tooth broke through this morning.
- Wears 12 month clothes and size 4 diapers.
- Waves bye opening and closing her hand.
- Loves the bath.
- Loves to play peek-a-boo and put blankets on her head.
- Loves to wrestle with daddy and her sister.
- Loves to cuddle with mommy.
- Has the most sensitive skin ever. We have the eczema under control, but now we're fighting a gnarly diaper rash.
- Sleeps through the night about 75% of the time. The other 25% she wakes up to eat around 4 or 5 and goes back down until 6:30/7.
- Got her first busted lip today. Not really sure what happened exactly, but it ended with a split lip and bloody clothes.
- Will NOT stay sitting down. Even when she's buckled in something she still manages to stand up. I won't be surprised if she figures out how to climb out of her pack in play before Brighton figures out how to get out of her crib.
- She loves to be silly. I always feel like she's trying to get me to laugh. Like she's the class clown.
- Thinks Brighton is so funny.
- Still doesn't care much for TV. My dreams of sticking her in the jumper in front of Baby Einstein (like I did with Brighton) have been dashed.

My Birthday Week

My big 2-6 fell on a Friday this year, which was nice because I don't teach piano that day. My birthday week started out last weekend with my Mom in town and a little birthday shopping.
Then the next week, a night out with the girls for some yummy Taco Surf, Paradise Cookies, and Chocolate Covered Strawberries. Not to mention some fun presents as well :) Thanks girls!
On my birthday, I of course went to Disneyland. For those of you that don't know. Everyone gets in free this year on their birthday. If you already have a pass, then you have the option of getting a DL gift card for $69, fast passes for you and 5 other people, or the option to get in free on your birthday in 2010. I opted for the gift card. Luckily I was able to stay in a good mood. To make a l-o-n-g story short, I left my house at 9:30, got home at 4:30 and only made it on one ride; It's a Small World. It was a whole lot better because I was there with fun friends, and I got a whole stack of fresh tortillas from the Mission Tortilla Factory :)
Later that evening, after a power nap and a quick shower, we met up with Justin & Stacy for some BJ's and a free birthday Pazookie.
Brighton was an angel for me all day as my birthday present, but figured after midnight it was free game to wake me up as much as she wanted. Oh, it's a good thing she's cute.
My birthday week ended with a family bash at my in-laws. Complete with fun presents, the famous Christensen "Happy Birthday" (hopefully video will be released soon ;), and a Chocolate Cake with Rainbow Chip Frosting.
Brighton had a blast with all of her cousins, aunts and uncles. She was in heaven!
Happy Birthday to me! I am very very spoiled.
