Boston's 2 Year Stats

We went in for Boston's 2 year well check the other day. Only thing is that we went in late for her 18 month check and I wasn't supposed to come for her 2 year until July. It's tough to remember things like that when you had to factory reset your phone, which erased your calendar you didn't think to backup. Oopsie.

So no shots for Miss Bos... Not until July anyway.

Just the usual measuring and chat with the Doc about her forever runny nose. Which, now he's talking about having her tested for allergies. We'll see.

On to Boston's stats:

Weight: 27 lbs 4 oz - 70th percentile (pretty sure she's lost weight since ditching the whole milk in her bottle)

Height: 36 1/2 inches - 97th percentile. Told you she's tall!

Head: 19 centimeters - 75th percentile

Interesting fact: From birth, both of my girls head measurements have been in the 75th percentile every appointment.

Any thoughts on getting blood drawn for allergy testing on your 2 year old?

Boston @ 20 Months

It gets more and more real every day that I do not have a baby.  Even though I call Boston, "My sweet baby" like 10 times a day, when I look at pictures like this:

it becomes oh so real that she is definitely not a baby.

I am a couple of months behind on her appointments. So her 18 month check up really happened at 20 months. (I would never had let that happen with Brighton...oh how things change with your 2nd).

So at 20 months:

  • 27.5 lbs - 75th percentile (Holding strong!)
  • 35 inches - 90th percentile (Holy crap!)
  • 19 head - 75th percentile

At 14 months I said that I was sure they had measured her wrong and that she couldn't be that tall... well that is what I was about to type again, so maybe she really is that tall.

My orange baby is h-u-g-e! (Sorry sweet girl. I'm sure it'll taper off before you really care)

Now for a list...

  • Braden calls her a "bruiser", and it is definitely true.
  • Pouts often, and pretends to sleep or covers her eyes when she's over something.
  • She also does a pretend pout that cracks me and Brighton up every time.
  • Loves shows: Dora, Einsteins, really anything. She loves Toy Story 3, and looooves Duzz!
  • Has learned to love to swing, and now cries when she has to get out.
  • Has a great time at Tot Lot, and can climb the ladder to the slide better than most of the 2 year olds.
  • Can put on her own shoes (most pairs)
  • Can say several 3 (or more) word sentences such as: I want up, I want a baba please, Where'd she go?, and I see you!
  • Pretends with her dolls and princesses.
  • At least once a week some random person says to me, "Well, she definitely knows what she wants!" Um yes, thank you.
  • Finally started saying Brighton's name. "Dighton" Or she often just calls her Sister.
  • Has all 4 molars and a few eye teeth look like they're on there way.
  • Pretends to count, and love to try to sing along to all songs.  I need to film her singing. It's pretty dang cute.
  • Calls Grandma, "Panka" and I hope it never changes.
  • Dr. Vergara told me to start saving for cavities because I cannot bring myself to take away her bottle. I kept saying to him, "but she looooves it". Like that would change his opinion.

18 Months!

Bossy is officially 18 months! Which means she can now to to Tot Lot and play (if I'm there), and she's in nursery at church!  Yaaay!  She is such a busy girl, the time has seriously flown. Her personality is shining through and she is spunky, independent, persistent, loud, and just plain cute!

At 18 months:

Weight: 25 lb 11 oz - 75th percentile
Height: 33 inches - 75th percentile
Head: Crap, I can't remember, but it was 75th percentile as well.

She is huge! Dr. Vergara said it's because she drinks so much milk.  He said, "Most kids only gain ounces between appointments at this age". Ummmm, she gained 2 lbs 11 oz in 4 months. I mean the girl goes through a gallon of whole milk in 3-4 days. Needless to say, she LOVES her ba-ba.

Her first sentence: "I wanna baba". I don't want to think about the hysteria that will go on when I take it away.
This was after her first day at tot lot (pajama day). She was exhausted.

She is a super climber, super runner and super strong. People comment every time we're at the park on how impressed they are at her skills and/or strength.

She loves mommy, and despite her independence, cries every time I go up the stairs.

She says lots of words... too many to really try to remember to note. She has put a few more things together like, "I crying", "I sad", "Where she go?", "What happened?" and my favorite and most frequent, "Oh, no!" From the sounds of her first pairing of words, I guess lots of tragic things happen! I know there are a few more, but I can't remember them at the moment.  She is consistently trying to talk to me, and we have lots of conversations that I can't understand.

She still has a constant runny nose. Nothing we do seems to help. Dr. V still thinks it's just colds. So basically this girl has been "sick" since she was 2 weeks old.

Some of her favorite things include:

Shows. She went from wanting nothing to do with the TV, to being obsessed with it.  She will go turn on the dvd player, pick up the remote, go sit on her bean bag and then point the remote at the tv trying to get something to play. She still loves "Lella" (Cinderella), but sits through Toy Story 2, Tangled and Dora episodes the longest.

Pretend eating. She makes tea and other yummy things to eat with Brighton and they take turns feeding me, or each other.

Being silly. I've said it before, and it I still feel, that she will be a class clown.

She loves dancing and running around.

Books.

The park. She loves sliding and running around, but hates the swings. She'll ask to be put on the swing, but then the second you make it move, she's crying to get out.  She gets a sickened look on her face, so I just think it makes her nauseous.

Ice Cream. She loves going to Yogurtland and getting her own little bowl of vanilla and sprinkles.

Brighton. She looks up to her and follows her around everywhere. They play pretty well together, and I love watching them. My favorite lately is they pretend paint each others nails.

Food:

She is a very picky eater. She examines every bite of food to make sure I haven't sneaked something new into it.

She does like: Chicken, hot dogs, pinto beans, cheese, yogurt, eggs, bagels, mandarin oranges, bananas and snacky things like gold fish, fruit snacks, etc.

The only time I've been successful at getting her to eat any vegetable is when I fed her some of my vegetable soup.

Teeth:

She finally has 2 molars. One top, one bottom on her left side for a total of 10 teeth.

Sleep:

We have dropped one nap. Against her will. She naps for about 3 hours in the afternoon and 11 - 12 hours at night. She still wakes up periodically and cries in her sleep. I think it's from teeth, but who knows.  She'll probably be crying herself back to sleep until she's 20. It's just never ending. But she does fall asleep more easily in the car now.

She can find her: Eyes, nose, mouth, teeth, tongue, cheeks, chin, hair, ears, hands, toes, and arms.

She tries to sing along to most songs I sing to her, but isn't the vocalist like her sister, quite yet.

We love you baby bossy, and could not imagine life without our orange baby.

Boston, when you read this, I want you to know that your hair is the most beautiful color of red. You get comments several times a day on how gorgeous you are and how pretty your hair is. Don't ever, ever, ever be embarrassed of your hair! You rock that red hair and be proud of it! I love you! - Mommy

PS. I really need a better camera.

Boston's Stats at 14 Months

Her 1 year check up turned into her 14 month check up. Oops...

First! She has some curl going on!! I couldn't be more excited!

Her stats:

  • 23 pounds - 50th percentile
  • 31 1/4 inches - 80th percentile (I think they measured wrong, I don't think she's that tall)
  • 18 1/4 head - 75th percentile

I feel like she is so big. Maybe just because she was my tiny bug baby who only weighed 6 pounds 1 ounce.

Just a few things about our baby destructo:
  • She is a 100% mama's girl.
  • When we're home, she cries when I leave the room. When we're in public she could care less where I am. Weird?
  • She sleeps 12 hours at night, 4 - 6 hours in the day, and needs every second of it.
  •  She is starting to talk more and more. She can currently say eyes, ball, mom, dada, baba, go, what's that, hot, apple, all done, all gone, more, uh oh, bye bye, and hi.

  • It really cracks me up when she says "baba", because she does it in the deepest voice possible. I really need to get it on video.
  • She gets a diaper rash just thinking about pooping.
  • She hits back.
  • She tries to pick up everything. One of her favorite things to do is to take her baby stroller up and down the steps.
  • Gives the best kisses.
  • Can find her eyes, nose and mouth.
  • Favorite Song: Wheels on the Bus.

  • Seems to like Elmo the best, but still doesn't really care for TV.
  • LOVES her bottle and blanket. Weaning her from her "baba" will be tough.
  • She is still a dare devil. She loves to play at the park, and goes down all of the slides.

  • She is feisty. Brighton was trying to get my phone from Boston, and Bos got p-i-s-s-e-d, and clawed Brighton's face. She made her lip bleed :( Brighton was literally terrified of her for the rest of the night. Feisty.
She is getting too big too fast! Love you Bossy!

11 Months

Crazy Baby Bossy is 11 months! Her fiery red headed personality has started to show through this month (or maybe it's just Brighton's fiery personality rubbing off). Either way we've "enjoyed" lots of screaming, some tantrums and throwing ourselves to the floor. If I had to describe Boston in one word it would be intense.

Boston's monthly list:

  • Yes, she is a red head. Someone new "discovers" that everyday.
  • She is walking. Her first steps were on April 3rd and over the last 3 weeks she has gotten better and better.

    • Loves to be in the water. Too bad she is as white as they come, being in the sun is not her friend.
    • Babbles and copies things we say.
    • Loves to dance, and instead of the classic baby bounce, she thrashes back and forth.
    • Has screaming matches with her sister.
    • Says mama and dada discriminately.
    • Prefers to feed herself and loves: cheese, quesadillas, eggs, bagels, waffles, bananas, oranges and chicken. She hates: bread.
    • Loves to climb into things.

    • Loves to be pushed in the umbrella stroller by Brighton.
    • Loves to follow Brighton around, but actually seems more happy when Brighton is napping and she is playing by herself.

    • Hates being put in her car seat. This girl is going to LOVE facing forward.
    • Is super strong. If she wants to be put down she will push so hard against you. I've almost dropped her several times.
    • Still a mama's girl. She cries almost every time I leave the room.
    • Loves Popcorn Popping and will do some of the actions. Also likes Itsy Bitsy Spider, and Wheels on the Bus.
    • Had the time of her life at the Westminster Mall play area.

      • Has 4 teeth and 1 more about to poke through.
      • Takes two, 1 1/2 hour naps.
      • Still wakes up around 4 or 5 a lot. About 1/2 of the week, we're up before 6. Kill me.
      • Puts most everything in her mouth.
      • Loves her bottle... and has had some regular milk and liked it. Our 1 year old switch should be seamless :)
      • And again, is basically just the opposite of Brighton as a baby.
Although I describe her as intense, she is such a lovable, cuddly baby too. It seems like I had her yesterday (or maybe that's because I mailed her birth announcement when she was 7 months old).

      Happy 11 Bossy!

      10 Months and a Birthday

      (Written on March 27th)

First I'll start with an update about my sweet baby bos. She is 10 months today and is crazy as ever.

      At 10 months she:

      • Stands on her own really well.

      • Crawls super fast.
      • She never sits flat on her bum. She is usually squatting, kneeling, one knee down/one foot up, or in a Z sit. Cracks me up.

      • Eats like crazy. She is never full.
      • Loves to chase and be chased.
      • Loves to head butt... It's almost like she just gives kisses with her forehead.
      • Has 3 teeth. 1 top tooth broke through this morning.
      • Wears 12 month clothes and size 4 diapers.
      • Waves bye opening and closing her hand.
      • Loves the bath.

      • Loves to play peek-a-boo and put blankets on her head.
      • Loves to wrestle with daddy and her sister.
      • Loves to cuddle with mommy.
      • Has the most sensitive skin ever. We have the eczema under control, but now we're fighting a gnarly diaper rash.
      • Sleeps through the night about 75% of the time. The other 25% she wakes up to eat around 4 or 5 and goes back down until 6:30/7.
      • Got her first busted lip today. Not really sure what happened exactly, but it ended with a split lip and bloody clothes.
      • Will NOT stay sitting down. Even when she's buckled in something she still manages to stand up. I won't be surprised if she figures out how to climb out of her pack in play before Brighton figures out how to get out of her crib.

      • She loves to be silly. I always feel like she's trying to get me to laugh. Like she's the class clown.
      • Thinks Brighton is so funny.

      • Still doesn't care much for TV. My dreams of sticking her in the jumper in front of Baby Einstein (like I did with Brighton) have been dashed.

I can't get over how cute and chubby she is. We went for a 2 week follow up for her eczema and she had gained 15 ounces! Current weight: 19 lbs 6 oz. She's my Precious Chubby :)

Now onto the birthday. Mine that is! I am now a whopping 28. (Which, lets be honest... I'm basically 30). I'm not one to be sad about getting older, it just sounds old. Anyway... It was a fabulous birthday. Not a single picture, but just wanted to document what happened.

My bday celebrations started on Friday with Braden getting up with the girlies and letting me sleep in. He woke me up about 8 (yes, that's sleeping in for me) to tell me that Justin and Stacy were over to watch the girls and he was taking me to breakfast. We hit up one of my favorite spots Blackboard Bistro in Seal Beach. So yummy.

Then on Saturday, Stacy surprised me with another favorite, Starbucks Hot Chocolate, and a birthday card that instructed me to be ready by 11:30. Stacy and Leslie picked me up and we met up with Amy at Cafe Rio (yet another favorite) for a bday lunch. Then they surprised me by taking me for a mani/pedi! That Stacy sure knows me well!
That night, my awesome MIL watched the girls and Braden took me out to dinner and a movie.

On my actual birthday, we had a family dinner at the in-laws as usual. It's always a good time chit chatting and eating some delicious meat loaf.

I am so loved and so spoiled, and could not be more thankful for the wonderful friends and family in my life. Thank you everyone for the birthday wishes today. It sure was awesome!

      Boston's 9 Month Stats

I finally took Boston in for her 9 month check up last week... Her stats (at 9.5 months) were:
      • 18 lbs 7 oz - 45th percentile
      • 28 1/2 inches - 75th percentile
      • 17 3/4 inch head - 75th percentile

      9 Months

Wow, these months are seriously flying by!

Boston turned 9 months on 2/27. Here are some things about our little Bosties.

She is the complete opposite of Brighton. I always said I had a feeling my next baby would be, and it is almost 100% true. Examples: She takes naps, she pulls things off shelves, she tries to climb out of things, over things, etc., she loves my hair (Brighton was disgusted if it even came near her), she puts everything in her mouth... Just to name a few.

She is sleeping in the same room with Brighton at night now. Brighton surprisingly doesn't wake up for the most part when Boston cries. Bos still is waking up once most nights, but I'm okay with it.

      She takes 2, 1 1/2 - 2 hour naps.

She has formula bottles for at least 1/2 of her feedings now, and loves all solids.

      Still only 2 teeth (bottom)

She is pro crawler, stander, puller upper, and has even moved along some furniture a bit and will balance for a few seconds.

She loves to take things out of buckets. I give her the basket with our bottles and cans to recycle, and she's happy for at least 30 minutes.

She would much rather putt around and play with toys than watch TV.

She doesn't care for the baby Einstein jumper (another opposite than her sister).

She can clap, wave, and put her arms up for the "throw it in the air" part of Patty Cake (I know it's supposed to be pat-a-cake...)

Her favorite song is wheels on the bus, or anything that Brighton sings to her.

She gets the most excited when she sees Brighton after she wakes up.

She is the craziest baby in the bath. She absolutely loves it, and would stay in it for hours. She's gotten a few bruises on her forehead because she won't sit still (or sit down for that matter) and is constantly falling.

She has the longest, red/blonde eyelashes.

She loves when I put lotion on her. Just hearing the lotion rubbing on my hands gets her giggling.

She has a weird skin issue on her neck that I can't get rid of! I think it's eczema, but nothing is working. I have one more thing to try that was suggested to me, but it may be time for a doctor visit.

Her allergies seem to be better. Not nearly as much snot and congestion. Thank goodness.

She is a mamas girl, and only gives me kisses.

She is the happiest baby, and I just feel so blessed to have another healthy happy baby!

I love you sweet bossy! Thank you for loving me back so much :)

      Eight

My little bug isn't so little anymore! Bos is weighing in at 18 lbs 1 ounce as of last week. Meaning she's gained about 2 1/2 lbs in about a month and a half. (And she's over a pound more than Brighton was at this age) She has some serious rolls on her legs...and honestly I can't squeeze her cute booty enough!

She is such a fun, cuddly baby who loves her mama. I am so glad I kept with the nursing. It really is such a special thing and really helps you bond with your baby. I actually have been looking forward to nursing lately, and am really grateful I am healthy and able to do it.

Now on to this girls monthly list.

      She:

Still doesn't crawl forward, but can get across a room by laying, scooting, sitting, etc.

Loves to stand, and tries to pull up to things.

LOVES to eat. She is pro chewer and will devourer puffs, cheerios, gold fish, graham crackers, and saltines as fast as you can give them to her.

She also loves all baby food and yogurt. But gags if you give her a piece of bread.

      Has two bottom teeth.

Is a pro at playing peek a boo.

Constantly pulls my hair to the point I'm very tempted to cut it off. I have the most sensitive head in the world and it KILLS me.

Is supposedly more flexible than the average baby.

Is always looking for Brighton and loves to play with her. In the car she holds her head up the whole time so she can watch Brighton. Brighton also loves Boston to watch her sing Taylor Swift, and says, "Look Boston! Look Boston!" And then proceeds to sing and dance for her.

      Had her first ear infection.

Says ba-ba and da-da, and coos a lot. And still screams, just not as much thank goodness.

      Published with Blogger-droid v1.6.6

We can't say her name without saying baby first.

      LOVES the bath.

Yes, that's a knife.  Just a pretend one if it makes you feel any better.

Doesn't especially love watching TV, she loses interest pretty fast.

Takes 3 naps, and usually falls asleep on her own without a peep.

Goes to bed at 7 (she'd probably go down at 6:30 if I let her). She still wakes up around 2, but I'm letting her cry back to sleep. Then she'll wake up again after 4, we'll nurse and then she'll sleep until about 6:30. It's been a major process with this girl and her night time sleep.

      Still the smiliest baby around.

Her hair is finally like a half an inch long. And the red is showing through more.

She has crazy long eye lashes.

      She's wearing 9 & 6-12 month sizes. Size 4 diapers, and still size 1 (0-6 month) shoes.

I am loving all the time I get to spend with my girls, and have really loved watching them discover each other this past month. Before we know it, they'll be up in their room playing "house" for hours.

Happy 8 baby Boston, bug, bosties bos and bossy!

      1/2 a Year

Miss Happy is now 6 months old. It is absolutely incredible how fast it has gone by.

She is such a happy girl, and even when she's crying you can almost always get her to smile...in the day.

However, once night time comes, she's a different baby. She rarely sleeps more than 4 hours, and when I've tried to let her cry she screams bloody murder with the most horrible throaty scream ever. And now even when I do feed her it's not always just right back to bed. I have no idea what is going on with her. I guess it must be her teeth. But 45 minutes of crying, and then another 45 of walking with her just end up nursing her anyway is too much for me, so I've given up for now.

Besides the lack of night time sleeping though, she is awesome. Her personality is starting to really show through. She loves to try to get Brighton to laugh and is always begging her for attention.

      She also:

Eats solids like a champ. I am so thankful to have another good eater (so far).

Loves her daddy. I can be playing with her, giving her all of my attention and she will still stare at him across the room and squeal trying to get him to look.

Loves the bath, and is a good splasher. We really need to graduate out of the kitchen sink. Especially since ours is like 5 inches deep.

Is getting better at grabbing toys and reaching for things she wants.

Doesn't seem close to crawling which if fine by me, and only rolls from back to belly.

Has the chubbiest legs right now and I want to squeeze them all day.

Still likes a bottle, still likes formula, even from me.

Still hates her pacifier (unless she's using it as a toy)... I keep trying though.

Likes to go for walks in the stroller sitting up.

      Loves TV.

L-O-V-E-S silk. She always finds the silky tags on toys and blankets and sucks on it. She definitely has a favorite blanket (that has satin on one side).

Is spitting up a lot less.

      Chews on her fingers constantly.

Wears 3-6 and 6 month clothes. It's worked out really well that she's a little smaller than Brighton, so the hand me down clothes and the seasons are matching up perfect :)

She has the cutest sigh type of babbling right now. I'll have to get it on tap. But no da-da, or ba-ba sounds yet.

It is so interesting how much you forget! I was just looking at Brighton's 6 month post. It hasn't even crossed my mind to give Boston puffs, and I tell everyone that Brighton didn't sleep longer than 30 minutes until she was at least 9 months old. OOPS! I mean 6 months I guess. I sure seemed like forever!

      Here is a sister comparison:

We sure love you baby bos!!

      1 Month

My baby bug is already 1 month. She is such a sweet baby. I've always said she was going to be opposite of Brighton, and so far she has. She naps well. She likes the pacifier. Enough said.

Home girl came out of the womb super strong. She holds her head up really well, and holds up her whole upper body sometimes too.

She's very alert...but not quite as animated as her sister was at this age.

She's smiled a few times, and it just melts my heart.

She sleeps in the same room with Brighton, and that is going well. It has actually helped teach Brighton to go back to sleep on her own better, and so she's been taking longer naps lately.

She doesn't seem to mind the bath, but doesn't really love it either.

Brighton really loves her sister and gets very concerned when she cries. She'll say, "Oh no! Babies Crying!! Go get her?" She loves to talk to her and give her kisses too.

I'm really going to try and take more pictures, and be as good about blogging things as I was with Brighton, but so far... it's been rough. "Mommy will do her best though Boston!"

We sure love our sweet angel. Happy 1 month!!

only 2 days late... not too bad.
