Brighton Christensen
Okay, here we go!
I woke up with a pain in my stomach at about 5:50am this morning. Totally thought I had some major gas going on. Once I figured out that they were probably contractions, I had had maybe 5. They were about a minute long and 5-6 minutes apart. So I called my Mom (@ 6:26am to be exact) to confirm that my gas pains were really contractions, and she told me that she could hear in my voice that I was more than likely in labor. So I woke up Braden, told him what was going on, that I was going to hop in the shower, and we'd go from there... I could still talk through them, so I thought things were just starting. Well, in the 30 minutes it took me to shower, Braden to shower and to get in the car, I was about beside myself. LUCKILY, and I mean luckily, there wasn't major traffic.
My water broke about 1/2 way there, and we pulled in front of the Maternity Center at about 7:25am. I was in no mood to wait around for a wheel chair so I waddled in with my soaking wet skirt, and headed for the Labor & Delivery desk. On the way there, a nurse was like, "do you want a wheel chair!?!" I said, "No, I don't know, whatever!" as I kept walking. When I approached the Labor & Delivery desk, they said, "Jodee?" (I made Braden call on the way there because I wasn't sure if I was going to make it). I said, "Yep, it's go time!" They put me in a recovery/storage room for the "moment" just to check me. I tore off my clothes, and asked when I could get pain relief. (Yep, I was all about the epidural with that pain going on, and coming on so quickly). She said if I wasn't too far dilated that they'd get me an epidural, but she had to check me first.
Well... I was already a 10, and yelling with in minutes, "Can I push, because I really feel like puuusssshhhhiiiing". So no time for an epidural... They had called my doctor but her ETA was about 15 minutes, and I obviously wasn't waiting that long. Fortunately Dr. Bustillo (who is in the same office) was already in the hospital, and came in to save the day. With 2 big pushes, she was born! I pushed right through the pain, with a little screaming of course, and our beautiful 7lb 6oz baby girl came into the world at 7:52am in the recovery room. Yep thats right, about 25 minutes after pulling into the hospital, she was on my belly, screaming her guts out. It was the most intense experience ever. And if the 2 pushes doesn't make you mad enough, I didn't tear or anything! Haven't even had an Advil. So flippin' crazy! (Just waiting for something to go wrong)
Braden was amazing, and was a superb driver as I yelled at him to call the hospital, and not to hit the speed bumps too fast, etc. He was right by my side, holding my hand, and is already the most amazing Daddy. It really is the best thing to watch your husband with your child in his arms.
We are so in love with our little bundle of joy, and will be going home tomorrow morning! Thank you all for your love and support :)
