Boston's 2 Year Stats

We went in for Boston's 2 year well check the other day. Only thing is that we went in late for her 18 month check and I wasn't supposed to come for her 2 year until July. It's tough to remember things like that when you had to factory reset your phone, which erased your calendar you didn't think to backup. Oopsie.

So no shots for Miss Bos... Not until July anyway.

Just the usual measuring and chat with the Doc about her forever runny nose. Which, now he's talking about having her tested for allergies. We'll see.

On to Boston's stats:

Weight: 27 lbs 4 oz - 70th percentile (pretty sure she's lost weight since ditching the whole milk in her bottle)

Height: 36 1/2 inches - 97th percentile. Told you she's tall!

Head: 19 centimeters - 75th percentile

Interesting fact: From birth, both of my girls head measurements have been in the 75th percentile every appointment.

Any thoughts on getting blood drawn for allergy testing on your 2 year old?

  1. I know Tawny had her kids allergy tested...they ended up having milk and wheat allergies, and I think a few others things. You could ask her for tips/advice about what she did.

  2. We had it done for Nickolas when he had anaphaltic (sp) shock. Everything came back negative, but they did say that the back pricks were more accurate. He hasn't ever had it since, and he had it when he was two. But his was more dangerous so maybe you could wait if it isn't a big concern for you.

  3. The girls were constantly congested their first year so at 1 we had them tested. Beya has a milk allergy and her symptom is congestion. Im thinking of getting her tested again at age 2 because I give her cheese and ice cream quite a bit and she seems completely fine...but the blood drawing is pretty terrible! Good luck!

  4. I had both my kids tested for food allergies and environmental allergies, they just drew some blood from their arms.

  5. If its just a reg draw for blood no big deal. Just crying like when they get shots and you might have to hold her down. My kids have had it done at 1 yr.

  6. Blood draw for Van was pretty horrible. We had to hold him down but not just a quick think like shots - they took 3 small vials to test for food allergies but it took FOREVER to find a vein, and longer than I thought to fill the vials. I think about five or ten minutes from when they first poked him until I could pick him up, and he was LIVID, crying and screaming until he was gagging. Ugh. I think I especially hated it because he ended up NOT having an allergy, so it felt like a big waste.

  7. It seemed like Boston's nose wasn't runny when i was there last??? Anyway, I think at her age she would scream and cry, but she would get over it and then at least you'd know. John ran around and screamed and screamed and no amount of threatening would make him stop!! It took two male nurses and one female to hold him down - ha ha!! He was about 4 or 5.
