If you haven't heard, Stacy and I are running the Long Beach 1/2 Marathon on October 11th!
I can't believe it's only a month away. I get butterflies just thinking about it.
We started training July 21st. We run 5 miles Mondays and Wednesday, and then do a 'big' run on Fridays. So far I've done 9, Stacy's done 11 (and 5 minutes faster than my 9, I might add!!) We just have a couple of more weeks of 'big' runs, and then we'll take it easy for the 2 weeks leading up to this crazy event.
I developed plantar fasciitis so I was in desperate need of new shoes. After much research and trying on shoe after shoe, I decided on the Nike Air Pegasus 26. My first choice was actually the Asics Gel Nimbus, but the Nike's were a very very close 2nd, and for $50 cheaper (plus I found a $10 off coupon online), I was sold.
I've been running with my new shoes for about 2 weeks, and as of yesterday morning, I can actually walk without limping when I get out of bed! Hurray!
I must say I n-e-v-e-r in a million years would think that I would be a 'runner'. Our first run, I barely made it a 1/2 mile before stopping and thinking my chest was going to explode (yes, I was that out of shape) But now that I can run 5 miles without really struggling, I am very proud, and so excited that I've pushed myself so far.
Here's to pushing myself more, and to not dying in the process!
I can run for about 1 block...seriously! I can't even fathom running that far and am so in awe of you both. Good work!
ReplyDeleteWay to go Jodee! That's so cool! There's no way I'd be doing that, but ya never know. Maybe one of these days I'll develope into a runner too. Ha! Good luck to you!
ReplyDeleteYou go girl! Love the shoes and love even more that they match your sports bra;)!!
