Why is it called "Morning Sickness"?

I'm quite baffled that Morning Sickness hasn't been renamed yet. I'm not sick in the mornings, I'm sick all flippin day and and night! Although I shouldn't complain too much, I only throw up about once a week, and I have started to feel better during the day. But 4 or 5pm rolls around and forget it.

I will tell you this. I LOVE APPLE JUICE. You know the great feeling you get right after you hurl? Apple Juice brings that little bit of peace to me for a few seconds. Morning, noon or night, it's good stuff.

What I want to know though, from those of you that have kids, is how long were you sick for? When did it start and when did it end?

  1. I started getting sick around week 5 or 6 and it didn't stop until week 16 or 17. I was usually sickest in the mornings and right around 5pm! I felt better after I ate usually...but the thing that helped me the most were those bracelets you can get for sea sickness. The sickness does eventually end, but it is no fun going through it. Hang in there and congrats on the pregnancy!

  2. First off I love that you are comparing Apple Juice to the feeling you get right after you hurl. And to top it off I swear to you I am seriously drinking apple juice right now!:) Both pregnancies I got sick around 5-6 weeks and I usually felt a lot better around 10-11 weeks. For me it got worse before it got better. Hang in there you are almost out of the gross part. I also second Melissa I wore the bracelets and they helped me a lot.

  3. well, first of all i'm jelious of anyone who either doesn't get morning sick or it only lasts for a few weeks. i was sick the whole 9 months with both my kids and they still ended up being 9 lbs. you know i'm a pretty small person so i don't know where they fit. i wish you the best of luck and i hope it doesn't last too long for you!

  4. I was sick from week 10 to week 16. I think mine always comes a little later than most for some reason.

  5. I was one of the lucky ones who was hardly ever sick. I was just REALLY tired. I never threw up and was only nauseous for about 2 weeks and it was gone by 12 weeks. I did have a seizure at 15 weeks, which scared the crap out of my husband. My sister was sick up until 21 weeks. I think it just all depends on you and your baby. Sorry I couldn't be of more help. If this makes you feel better, I know a lady who was put on strict bed rest at 10 weeks until she delievered. She had 3 pregnancies like that!

  6. Hi friend... can we please talk about this? Fortunately, mine has gone from "all day sickness" to just "night sickness." Unfortunately I'm 16 weeks along so I wish I could tell you it stops soon. With Ava, I felt great by 12 weeks. I guess it's just different with every baby (even the same sex!)

Good luck!! You know I'm always up for a get-rid-of-the-nausea-for-a-few-hours-yummy-dinner.

  7. Oh the never ending feeling of being nauseous. I was throwing up about 5 times a day from around 7 weeks until around 13? I think. But after that I would throw up once in the morning and then feel pretty good for the remainder of the day until I was may 18 weeks. Something that did the apple juice trick for me was smelling citrus. Don't know why, but it was my little piece of heaven for a second or two.

  8. I keep seeing your blog about apple juice and it is making me thirsty for it! So I drank a full cup right now! YUM! I might go back for seconds!

  9. Congrats on your pregnancy! I remember getting sick around 8 weeks and it didn't go away until around week 13. It was that way for me too-pretty much sick all day long. That was not my favorite part of being pregnant. I'm not sure there's any real glamour in being pregnant, really. Except for those wonderful couple of months where you can start to feel the baby move and it's not big enough to be too uncomfortable. Week 16 on. Funny that apple juice is soothing to you. Watch out, next week you just might despise the stuff.:) You sound like you are taking pregnancy like a real woman-every day at a time. Hope the yucky part ends soon for ya! Sorry this was so long!
