Miss B turns 2!

I should have started typing this post over the last 6 months, because I know I'm going to forget a million things... but don't you worry, I'm sure it'll still be long.

At 2 years Brighton can:

Count to 10, and recognizes 1 - 10 when she see's them.

Sing her ABC's, and recognizes a lot of letters.

Knows all of her colors: Black, white, brown, blue, green, red, orange, pink and purple; and pink is definitely her favorite.

Fun note: Braden was asking her what color different things were the other day, and he asked, "What color is mommy?" Brighton replied, "Black!"

Knows some shapes: Circle, square, triangle, star and heart.

Sing along to: Pretty much anything she's heard a couple of times. She definitely has the Christensen memory! Some favorites are: If You're Happy and You Know It, Head Shoulders Knees and Toes, Itsy Bitsy Spider, Twinkle Twinkle, Wheels on the Bus, Daisy, I Am a Child of God, I Love to See the Temple, Teach Me to Walk in the Light, Families Can Be Together Forever, Backyardigan's Theme Song, Super Babies from Dora and so many more!

This really shows Brighton's personality well :)

Fun note: We have been woken up at 2-3 in the morning on several occasions to Brighton singing ABC's or Twinkle at the top of her lungs, "UP ABOVE THE WORLD SO HIGH!"

Knows which is her left and right hand as well as up and down, in and out and cold and hot.

Talk and communicate really well. She tries to speak in full sentences which makes it a bit more confusing now because I don't catch all of the words.

At 2 Brighton loves:

Shoes. She wants them on at all times, and her brown mary janes are her current favorite. She wears 2t - 3t clothing and size 6 - 7 shoes.

To go outside, especially to the park, and she especially loves to swing.

Other people. She is always saying, "Hi friends!" to random groups of people. Or she will say, "Hi kids!" or "Hi guys!" to the neighbor girls down the driveway.

Cars, trains and airplanes. She will ride a car along the couch longer than anything else.

Balloons. That is all I got her for her birthday. (she got plenty of other things from everyone else, I promise).

Books. They are all out on her bedroom floor all the time. I can't keep up with her!

Boston. Most of the time anyway. She is usually very concerned if Boston is crying and is very excited to see her when she wakes up. I think it's the cutest thing when she says, "Hi Boston!"

Dora, The Backyardigans, Baby Einstein's - Babies First Sounds, Yo Gabba Gabba and Kai Lan.

The word "okay". She says it in place of yes, and pretty much after everything she says. "Go to the park? Okay?"

Almost all fruit, especially bananas, grapes and blueberries.

Broccoli, green beans, asparagus, zucchini, cooked carrots, peas and mushrooms.

Treats. She loves frosting, cake, cookies and chocolate.

To be loud and silly. We are working on an "inside voice".

Fun note: A lady at target was observing Brighton while we were waiting for a prescription and she said, "Is she always a clown?" Why yes, yes she is.

To go to bed early. She is happiest when she gets to bed by 7:30. She sleeps 12 hours and takes a 1.5 - 3 hour nap.

At 2 Brighton dislikes:

To walk on grass or sand barefoot. (that goes back to birth)

Sleeping in the car.

The Wonder Pets (she's always bummed when they're on it seems like)

Time outs. Which she usually is in several times a day.

Joann's. She gets hysterical every time I set foot in that store.

Fig Newtons, Cherries, and Cheese in it's shredded or string form.

Getting her hair done.

Some hair do's we've been trying...

I cannot beleive it's been another year. Brighton is such an outgoing, sassy, fun little gal and we just love her to death!
Happy Birthday Brighton!

  3. So cute. I can't believe she is 2 already. She seems like such a fun little girl. By the way I've been going through a bunch of my old boxes from like middle school to before you moved to CA and I have found the funniest things and so many funny pictures of us. I also found like ten random elephants I collected and I was trying to think of what animal you were? I know Jessica was a hippo but I can't remember for the life of me what you were.. Do you remember?

  4. She's so cute! That picture with her hair pulled back makes her look more "Heit"-ish...maybe because you can see a big Heit forehead! Happy birthday B!
