Now that Brighton is 3, and potty training, we thought we should put her in a bed. One that she can actually get out of. She wasn't a crib climber, so I probably would have milked that until she was 12, but... I guess she might need to get up to go pee every once in awhile.
Boston graduated from her pack 'n play to the crib.
Guess who had the harder time? Boston.
It took Brighton a few nights to get the drift that she needed to stay in her bed once it was bedtime. And during those few nights, Boston saw her sisters new freedom and was beside herself. She got so hysterical, I had to let her cry it out in my room in the pack 'n play an then move her over later. Poor girl was so jealous. She loves it now, but a big girl bed might come sooner than it did for her sister.
Brighton loves her bed. She thinks it's the coolest thing. We haven't put it on the frame yet. We want to make sure she's not falling out all of the time (which she hasn't yet) before moving it any higher.
I scored those cute sheets on clearance at Target for $8 for the set. It was the perfect time to transition her. All of the cute summer bedding was on clearance :)
I was looking forward to her waking up quietly and coming into our room while letting Boston sleep a little longer. I'm pretty sure that Brighton wakes Boston up almost every day. But... now that we have "trained" B to stay in her bed, she won't get out on her own in the morning. She still just starts yelling, "mommy, I'm awake!!!!" Oh well.
Oh, that's so funny with her yelling "I'm awake!" - you really can't win, can you? But I do love her bedding - bright, cute stripes! And she does look so big in a bed. Ahhhhh!
ReplyDeleteSuch a cute bed! Jackson used to yell to us that he was awake too but then I told him if he will wake up and quietly come in my bedroom in the morning there will be a surprise for him. Then I just put a penny in his piggy bank or I'd have a little sticker for him to have or a coloring book and crayons ready for him to just sit and color with. Something little and different every morning until he just got into the habit of waking up and coming out of his room. The first time I had to come in and show him how to tip toe and whisper and quietly just walk into my room because baby Jacob is still sleeping :)
