#1. Graco Metrolite Travel System
I love the travel system idea, the easy one hand collapsing feature, light weight, cute print, etc. I have heard that this car seat sits up very straight, so your babies head might fall forward when they're first in it. Some have said that wasn't a problem, others say it was a big deal... This also is very gender specific so unless I could recover it or something would need to get a new system if I were to have a boy next. hmmmm... This was my original choice after my initial research.

#2. Graco Car Seat Frame and SnugRider Car Seat
A more compact version of the travel system with a better car seat (higher safety ratings, and more reclining positions so the babies not up so straight). Same collapsing feature as above. Isn't a stroller in of itself though. My question with this one is would I really want/need a full size stroller at first, or with the money I'm saving with this option just wait and buy another stroller (jogger or something else) down the road. I can't really think of a reason I would need a full size stroller at first, and why the carrier/stroller frame wouldn't work fine. I also like that this comes in more neutral colors. hmmm...

#3. Maxi Cosi System.
This is by far the most pricey, but I've heard good things about it, and it seems to have a lot of nice features. Also I like the fact that it is very neutral. Is it necessary to throw down the "big bucks"? (in my opinion anyway...) Would this really last me longer? Hmmm...

65 days to go!!! Man it's sure coming fast!!!
ReplyDeleteYou already know that I say the Graco Metrolite. It's the only travel system with rubber wheels which makes turning super easy. Both me and a good friend of mine have one and they are both totally neutral colors. She's used hers for her son and daughter. So keep looking... there's definitely neutral fabrics out there if that's what's holding you back.
ReplyDeletep.s. Another few things I love about it is that it stands up when it's folded, the basket underneath is easy to get to, and cup holders!
Well you know which one I have. But best advice for you on whatever you get is go neutral. Don't do as I did and get the cute pink carseat:) Super cute but if you do that you will for sure have a boy next:)
ReplyDeleteWe just went to Babies R Us and tested out all of the strollers. The one that was easiest to put together, take apart, and had easiest to push (in my opinion) was the Evenflo EuroTrek Travel System. We picked a neutral color scheme so that we could use it down the line, too. Happy hunting!
ReplyDeleteGonna put in my 2 cents on this one since my garage currently has like 5 strollers. With Sabrina (my first) I went with the whole system thing, gender neutral-thinking, like you, I would use it again down the line. In fact, I didn't...I got all new with Tabitha (#2 baby) since they say you should never use a "used" car seat. With Tabi we went with your #2 choice of frame and carseat-so totally easy. When she was about 6 months or so we finally got a regular stroller for her (mostly for Disneyland and mall stuff). Now, with Charlee we started out with the whole system and ended up back with the frame and car seat thing. That whole carseat and stroller system is a pain (too heavy, takes up too much space, etc.) with multiple children-bottom line.
ReplyDeleteSo now that I gave you my more than 2 cents worth and probably no help..I say go for your #2 choice and save up for the big bang later!
P.S. (like I haven't said enough...if you want my travel system, I'm selling it! Our garage is busting out the seams. Give me a call.)
Touch decision. I would go with #1. Also, I am selling my bugaboo if you are interested. Let me know.
ReplyDeleteI'm a fan of the Graco. If you are planning on having more kids in the future, you might want to consider a double stroller travel system, something like this:

It's the graco brand and it folds down to just about the size of a single stroller. I've seen many moms do that who know they will be having multiple kids and use the 2nd seat for either shopping bags or a friends kid. In regards to using a used carseat....You should replace your carseats every 4-5 years to keep the safety of it up to par. Never buy a used carseat though because you never know how it has been treated.
As a mommy of 3 I definetly vote for #1! That is what I have used and don't have a complaint about it :)
ReplyDeleteI had the same Graco when kelly was a baby and that thing lasted forever and worked well - no status symbol, but very practical.
