I have been having some lower back and abdominal pain that started on Wednesday night, and my pee that night (sorry if this is too much information) was more red than yellow. I haven't had any other symptoms of a UTI or anything, so my doctor thought I might have a kidney stone. I've already had one kidney stone when I was 19, and my Dad has had about 15 of them, so it definitely runs in the family. The pain had gone away Thursday morning before my appointment, but my Dr said if the pain came back she wanted me to go to the hospital to get checked out.
Around 4pm the back aching started again... I finished up teaching piano, and a few various things and then headed to the hospital at about 9pm.
They checked me in (got a wrist band and everything), strapped me to the monitors, and made me drink like 64 oz of water. Our little girl was doing just fine :) She was having a fun time making the nurse come in like every 5 minutes because she would move, and the machine would start beeping because it couldn't detect the heartbeat. She was seriously out of control moving around. I had a few contractions... nothing major or anything that resembled a pattern.
I got my wish of being 'checked' for dilation, which was more uncomfortable than I thought it would be. The nurse said, "Your cervix is waaaaay back there". No dilation here... she's closed up tight. :( But she did say her head is really low, so thats a good sign right?
Then they did a Renal Ultrasound to check out my bladder and kidneys. Sure thing... kidney stone in my left kidney. After 4 hours of monitoring, I got sent home with a Vicodin and instructions to call for more pain meds in the morning if I needed them.
I had a fabulous nights sleep, and have felt great all day! Although I wouldn't mind a bottle of Vicodin on hand, I passed up the additional meds.
Here's a profile shot (close up of just her head) that the ultrasound tech gave me... She told me that she is currently face up. Hopefully that will change!

Kind of funny, cause the one kidney stone I had when I was pregnant was with you! Glad you're feeling better and cannot wait for this baby to come!! Love you
ReplyDeleteAlmost time! Glad you are feeling better.
ReplyDeleteGeez louise... kind of scary. But I'm glad everything was fine. If you thought checking for dilation was bad, just wait til they "stir things up." :)
ReplyDeleteCan't wait for her to get here... and to find out what her name is. :)
Oh! I am so excited for you and jealous that you only have a couple more weeks left! Wish I lived closer so I could see this little girl in person!
ReplyDeleteJodee I'm so sorry to hear about your kidney stone. That is horrible. Your getting so close. I'm way excited for you.
