Depressing

Remind me not to go shopping in the next few weeks when I'm already feeling overwhelmed. I went out for a couple of hours for a little break while Braden watched Brighton. I decided, for some reason, that it would be a good idea to go find me a pair of jeans to wear while I lose my baby weight (plus some). Yeah... not a good idea. Not only did all the pants I tried on look hideous, they were an outrageous size, that I never thought in a million years I would be wearing. Needless to say, I came home empty handed. I was able to give myself a pep talk to regain my optimism before walking through the front door, so we didn't have too long of a pity party.

As much as I blogged about the gaining of the baby weight, I intend to blog about losing it as well. Sorry if that is boring, but it will help keep me motivated. I can't bring myself to disclose my actual weight, but I will say that I have lost 23.5 lbs since giving birth, leaving 17.5 to go until pre-baby, and then another 10 - 15 lbs to reach my "ideal size". I will give myself props for eating fairly healthy so far, and being really good at stopping when I'm full (that's my problem... I eat past 'full', waaaaay too often).

So until I can get into my 'fat pants', you will most likely see me in some sort of sweat-pant attire, or a dress here and there.

Here's to life-long eating habit changes!!!

  1. You are so funny. But I know EXACTLY how you feel!! I went to Old Navy for some in between pants and left the store empty handed and near tears! I have way more to lose than 17 pounds =( Good luck! We can do it!!

  2. Oh my gosh, this sounds ALL too familiar. I'm sorry about the experience, but at least (if you're like me) it's even more incentive to lose the weight.

I think you look absolutely great for having a baby 10 days ago. Good luck! Let's do it!

  3. You gotta account for the hips still being spread out! Give them a little while to get back into place :) I remember when I had Kalyse, I actually packed my jeans in my suitcase cause I so stupidly thought I was going to be wearing them home! Boy, I was sure suprised when I couldn't get them past my knees :)

  4. You can do it Jodee. Don't wait a whole year and some change to do something about it. I have finally lost 21 lbs and am down from my pre baby but another 20 to get to my ideal size. Good luck!! I went out and bought a pair of jeans and was disgusted at the size, but it was better than wearing Nick's jeans. :) I am there for you!!

  5. I know how you feel but I went shopping before. A month or 2 before we found out we were pg, I did a shopping spree and bought 2-3 pairs of pants. Then bam we are pregnant.... Couldn't wear those jeans anymore because of the hips.

Good Luck! You can do it!~

  6. I am SOOO with you on this. I'm trying not to be hard on myself and when I'm feeling really out of shape I remind myself that I just had a baby. I think that time will do us both a lot of good. :)

  8. Oh girl you should have called me first I would have told you that you need to wait at least 3 weeks before you buy new clothes. It's way depressing I all to well understand. But take pride in the fact that you look AWESOME for just having a baby! It will melt off over the next few months. Just keep breastfeeding it speeds up the process.

  12. I think EVERY mom out there can relate to how you are feeling. I also walked away empty handed and in tears. I resorted to stretch pants for a while. I agree with everyone!!! You look GREAT!!!!
Oh, that is such cute that you used the same fabric for her bedding. I saw it at Jo Anns and couldn't pass it up!!
    BIG HUGS!

  13. Yeah so I FINALLY figured out that the whole shopping after a baby thing has to wait a little while. (It only took 3 times- slow learner I guess) I agree with Amy that time will be the best weight loss though. You look fabulous by the way, don't be too hard on yourself... it comes with the territory!!
