1 Year Old

...and 1 L-O-N-G Post!

Our little Baby B is officially 1! I swear her personality has everything to do with my crazy labor just a year ago. She is stubborn, dramatic, and does everything on her own terms. As predicted, I have slowly gotten worse at taking pictures and documenting things. *slap on hand* But this is really just due to the fact that we are having so much fun together... there is just no time!

It is crazy to me that I can give my little girl a 'look' and she knows I'm teasing her and will bust up laughing. It is crazy to me how smart she is and how fast she picks up on things. It is crazy to me that I'm old enough to be a mother. And it is especially crazy to me how much love I feel for this little chubby sweetheart.


Today we went for her 1 year check-up (sorry Brighton for taking you for shots on your birthday!). Everything is fantastic with her as always.

Her 1 year stats:

• 19 lbs 10 oz - 25th percentile (I guess not that chubby, huh?)
  
• 29 1/4 Inches - 70th percentile
• 18 1/4 Inch Head - 75th percentile

The Monthly List:

She...

• Just started walking
• Loves to stand up then fall down and giggle
• Loves to be chased, especially by daddy
• Says dada first thing when she wakes up in the morning, and is always looking around for him
• Can says: baby, button, keys (tees), mama, dada, nana (for Nana and Banana), ball, thank you (tee tee), hi, bye bye, woof, woof (for the doggie sound), uh-oh, good, what's that, and yuck.
• Loves the wand on vertical blinds. She would play with that for an hour if I just held her at the window.
• Is getting into putting things from one place to another, or taking things in and out.
• Claps when she knows she does something good, or starts shaking her head no, when she's doing something she knows she's not supposed to.
• Is very serious if you ask her something she doesn't know, but giggles if she knows what you want.
• Will hold up her finger when asked how old she is.
• Can find her: eyes, nose, mouth, teeth, belly button
• Still loves cuddling with her blankies, and going Hmmm and rubbing her face all over them.
• Can see the word clap and do so.
• Still waves, claps, and puts her arms up on request.
• Loves to be thrown in the air, spun around, wrestled with, etc.
• Is still into keys, anything music, backyardigans, and crawling around with toys in her hands.
• Likes to walk and push her cart. Although it is probably the most frusterating thing for her when she sees she's heading for a wall. She gets so mad. She's learned to turn it around (which is the cutest thing), but when she's playing with it, it is drama!
• Does the actions to: Popcorn Popping, Itsy Bitsy Spider and Patty Cake.
• Sings dee-dee-dee and will start rocking when you sing it (that's for you Grandpa Heit!)
• Is becoming more of a picky eater.
  
• Loves chicken, bananas, mandarin oranges, pears, peaches, green beans, bean burritos, yogurt, and especially eggo waffles! She even squeals when she sees one and cries if she sees me throw a box away!
• Is a social butterfly and waves and talks to lots of strangers.
• She babbles like c-r-a-z-y! It is seriously non-stop sometimes. I'm sure it'll all start meaning something in a few short months!

We got to celebrate her birthday twice. First with friends. If you remember, I'm pretty sure the majority of my friends were pregnant, and due within a month or two of me. Well, we celebrated all of the 1st birthdays together, and it was a blast!

We met at Mayfair park with your BYO-Lunch, we hired Kellie to take pictures of all the cuties, I made some cupcakes, and we just had fun chatting and watching all of our cute babies play. I was the only first time mom in the bunch, so of course I was over the top with a special birthday tutu and matching headband. (Lots of more pictures to come!)

We celebrated Braden and Brighton's birthdays this past Saturday with the family. We mixed things up a bit, and celebrated at a park. We had delicious food (teriyaki chicken, rice, potato salad, asian salad, hawaiian pasta salad, rolls, fruit, and of course more cupcakes!). Brighton was a little off schedule, so she was a little more chill than normal. She just sat on peoples laps for the most part, and enjoyed being outside. It was nice that we were able to have my mom and sister and her hubby join us for the celebration.

She just picked at the frosting and got mad when I tried to make her take a bite!

Brighton got so many cute things including: her own set of real keys, a new backyardigan's book and sippy cups, cute-cute-cute clothes, an umbrella stroller, sunglasses, her very own Brighton Bracelet (I'm going to give her a charm every year for her birthday), lots of fun books, and some dvd's. So so spoiled.
